It a huge trend right now and I think will be one that always stays, the more we start to collect amazing dishware and antique kitchen ware the more it becomes apart of our décor. The concept of using floating shelving and glass front cupboards is A. to help make your space appear more open and B. to use your everyday items you use as apart of your décor. I am in love with floating shelving, I think it looks clean and I love the concept of have a place to showcase my ironstone and my vintage mixing bowls. I love farmhouse style décor, and most likely if your reading this so do you! The trend of having floating shelving brings your kitchen space back to that farmhouse style living. Some farmhouse didn't have cupboards so they use wood planks to help store items to keep it off the counter work space, which they didn't always have a ton of either. This can be applied to many peoples homes today, not all kitchens are your massive dream kitchen. Many people rent and this is a way to incorporate this style into your space but also still keep it working to your advantage of not having enough space. I livin in an apartment and I have tiny kitchen it has good cupboard space but I have things I like to showcase that I don't need on my counter tops cluttering up my work space. Below it a photo of a wall in my kitchen area that I incorporated floating shevling ( I also want to mention I don't have your traditional farmhouse style colors in my home, I like warm colors and so I have a more warmed up version on the farmhouse trend.) I think a way to really save your money and make your space feel like home is to always use what you have . I think this concept of floating shevling and open shelves helps you do this. Its steering away from your tradition décor such a pictures and candle sconces and using your dishes and pots and pans as décor. Multi functional décor, why not? The kitchen should be a place of family and warmth and a place to cook and entertain, its where everyone floats to during parties anyways. What do you think about exposed shelving and cupboards, it can be open shelves, glass cupboards and so on. What do you like about them? What do you not like about them? How do you incorporate them in your home? Share with us your thoughts and pictures!!
Happy decorating!

Happy fall favorites!!🎃🎃🎃🎃 Today is a lovely day, nothing better than a great fall day for The Vintage Market. Hatton Vintage Farmhouse is down at The Monroe County Fairground! we have lots of upscale handmade decor, Farmhouse good and chippy furniture.
THe moment I get up after prepping for these markets I am nothing but excited and nervous lol. I am lucky to be able to do this as a way to make income. It's creative and crafty and all home related. Nothing better than having a husband who supports my dreams. if you live in the southeast side of Michigan and want something amazing to do today, come out to the fairgrounds. This market off amazing food, clothes, furniture, crafts, candles, jewelry, home decor and so much more ! If you love a vintage vibe and want to spend a day with friends and family this is where you need to. I love fall everything! I have to say I cant help but love to layer up and wear cozy leggins and oversized sweaters. Its a fall must. I am by no means a fashion guru or fashion bloggers. I just know what I like and how I like to style it. I did work for a major retail store for many years as a stylist and window display artist so I have some idea of how this works but mainly its just what I like Everyone has those clothes they love all year around, sometimes you always dont know how to mix and match it and have it transtion into the seasons. I have a few of those items, I do like to go guy new clothes every season but who doesnt. Here are a few items I have that work for warmer seasons and can transtion into cooler season, some are more summer looking and I am gonna shows you ways I like to spruce up my outfits for cooler days. Before: This is a grey sleeveless knit dress, I love the thin stripe it has plus it fits me in all the right areas and hides all the wrong lol. After is the same knit dress but I paired it with a denim button up, and a cute printed scarf to stay warm with. I love print on print but as long as its done the right way and toned down. I would also pair this with a black pair of leggings to help pop the black stripe and a black flat. I like to be as comfortable as possible but also try to look as put together as I can in between wearing my painting clothes lol. Before is a sleeveless knit top with a tye dye print. It is long on the sides to help balance out my body and it LOVE the way it fits. After I paired this top with a thinner cardigan, I also paired it with a linen scarf to help with layering and keep it cozy. I would paired this with my army green linen pants than tapper and tighten at the ankle. I love the color contrast but it keeps it simple. I would probably wear flats with this, I am taller kinda gal so I stear away from anything that makes me to tall. Before its a basic wine color long sleeve. Its basic and I love basic things, but I like to be able to take this and ramp it up a notch. After I took this great fall color long sleeve and layered it with a flannel oversized cardigan. I love this cardigan and its longer on the front side. I al took this and added a smaller darker striped scarf to add some contrast. I would throw on my wool leggings and some knit boots and make sure it keep me warm but interesting and layered to the max! Something I cant help but love doing all season long. An last but not least I had this summer printed tribal dress would be a good item to wear for the fall but ramped up and of course layered as always. This dress doesn't help with giving me the best shape but I love the print and here is a way you can help break it up and give back shape to your look. After I added a leather jacket to edge up the dress and tone down the print. The scarf layered brings textured but helps tone it down as well. The length of the jacket helps cut the dress off and give you shape again. I would wear this with some wool tights and boots.
Overall these items are plain or needing some help to transition into fall looks. Some are loud and some basic. I think specially if you someone like me who is busy painting or running errands you don't always have time to think about what to wear and how to make it work. I think these examples are great ways take those basic items in your closet from other seasons and help transition them into something you can wear for the fall. Don't feel like you have to go out and spend a tone of money on new clothes, check for deals and buy bold items and layering items to help spruce up the items you have at home. What are you favorite fall outfits items?? Happy Layering! It seems like a lot of work doesn't it? Its really not,I feel like I am in love with making my home feel cozy at all times so to me it's natural to rotate blankets and linens. Specially during the colder months when I am all about making my home cozier then ever. My my living room is first when it come to get a blanket change. I have a basket of blankets in my living room for us to use when we are watching tv at night and relaxing. In the summer months I still keep them but they will have lighter weight blankets and cooler months I pack those up and put out the fur and flannel blankets. It's not just a decorative thing it's also functional too. The lighter colors get folded up and the browns, red, green , orange and neutral colors come out to "fall" up my home. Seems like a lot of work, nahhh! I use a wicker basket so we don't have to fold them we just lay them in there for next use....this is way easier than fold them up everyday and placing them on the couch. I am a huge fan of blanket ladders...I have one in my living room but this is strictly for decoration. It gives a whole new purpose to old ladders and adds a farmhouse feel to the room. These are great place to showcase your blankets that match the season the most and help speak to the room and how cozy you want it to feel. I also make blanket ladders that we sell at our markets we do. So it may seems like more work than needed but there are easy ways to spruce up your blankets for the seasons, it all depends on how cozy you want your rooms to feel. Start small and eventually you will be organizing blankets for every room. Find yourself the right blanket and you won't be able to stop. Happy cozy decorating!

You name they have it... plus we will have all the great things you see in our portfolio on here and our facebook page! see you this Sunday!! https://www.facebook.com/events/241592989544447/?ti=icl Can we say obsessed with this fall porch decor? Obsessed! lol What I love about this is that is nit for halloween or thanksgiving or jsut the begining of fall, its transitional for all! You can put this up in September and carry it till thanksgiving. You can even add and subtract smaller items to play up the holiday that you are celebrating. Its so beautriful and cozy, ofcourse very welcoming to your guest. Why spend a mass amount of money on this when you can hit up the dollar store, joannes, hobby lobby and even walmart. I use these places to my benefit to create the same expensive look but on a low budget. Here are some tips and tricks to doing this.
Here is a quick list of everything in this picture to help creat the look: Ladder Hay Bail Bucket Pumpkins Corn Stalk Wreath Burlap Black paint Lets start out with the expensive item first, the ladder. We ll actually it can be made for $5! Can you belive that? I couldnt till I made them. Check out this link to help you create this ladder. Its supper helpful. http://www.heytherehome.com/diy-blanket-ladder-pottery-barn-knock/ Next the easy buy items, the corn stalk and hay bail. We have places around us that sell these for low cost each season. I bought them the corn stalk for 2.99 and the hay bail for 3.99. You can beat those prices. Pumpkins can be costyl sometimes, espcially at large chains or even pumpkin patches can have high prcies. We have a store near us called ALDI. every year they have pumpkins and massive ones for 2.99 which is a steal. But walmart carries them as well for under 3.99. Gords can come in bags of assorted styles I bought some at my local grocery store for 2 dollars for a bag of 8. So scope out you local grocery stores so you get the best deal for your decor pumpkins. The metal bucket they used can be either pulled out of your garage so you dont have to spend a penny on it or you can run over to hobby lobby and find a farmhouse style bin or maybe even a wicker basket to use for a low cost and put the pumkins in it. I love the idea of something rusted and old like a galvanized bin or something wicker maybe even with a neutrl flannel fabirc in it to add a fall cozy touch. Anyways less ranting about flannel and more about this beauty of a front porch. Grab a grapbine wreath for $5 from Walmart and add some fall leave or dried berry wigs too it and loop it thru a burlap swag shown in the photo and hang it on the door for the last finishing touches. Overall this can be a really easily done fall front porch decor that can transtion through out the fall holidays. Have fun but dont feel like you need to spend a ton on this, but one expensive thing each season and spend little on the rest and as the years go on you will eventually have lots great options to choose. Happy Fall, and enjoy pumpkin carving, apple cider and trick or treat season! |
