So have been neglecting the blog this week. I have been pretty busy with prepping for the up coming weeks. This Saturday I have a pop up vintage market in Maumee, Ohio. Its about 45 minutes from where we live . The Finders Keepers Vintage Market are hosting this event and we have done several events of theirs. So happy to be back with them for our last fall market of the season. Fall market season has done great for us and given us a chance to be more creative and tap into more of who we are as creators. This market is on Saturday October 15th at the Fallen Timbers Mall, its an outdoor event and what a perfect way to end the fall markets and we be able to enjoy the crisp fall weather. We have lots of fall and Halloween products we will be featuring at the show and this will be your last chance this season to get most of them. We will still keep some of them on our Etsy page until October 31st, after that we will be launching our Christmas season items. We will also be with Finders Keepers on November 20th, in Toledo Ohio. Check their facebook page and our facebook page for updates. Our Etsy shop has a few updates, I re launched most of our photos for our products, lightened them up and gave them a cleaner back drop. It has helped for sure, I think for only being on there for two weeks and have over 400 page views and a few orders it is going pretty good, I think Christmas will be even better. Feel free to check out our page and share it with anyone you think would be interested. We are a small business, I am making my dream happen and all the support means the world to me, being able to do what I love and help bring an income to my family is really my goal and passion. This Friday we are going to Greenfield Village for Halloween Nights. So excited for this, Greenfield village is a historical village created by Henry Ford. They put this event together every year and I have not had a chance to go. They do a headless horseman act and they decorate the entire place with carved pumpkins. The streets are lined with spooky characters and you can see all the old Historical homes decorated for Halloween. Its a family event and my husband , my mom and her friend as well as myself are going Friday after we set up for the market on Saturday. I can not get enough of Halloween. I love the movies, pumpkins, cider, candles, leaves, apple orchards and spooky events like this. Its going to be a lot of fun even if I am not a kid I am still going to have fun like one. Last but not least on this amazing Sunday, I have an update on some events I will de doing in November and December. GLP Events holds craft and vendor shows in the southeast Michigan area. I have signed up for some of there events for the holiday season. November 12th in Southgate, November 26th in Wyandotte and December 3rd in Woodhaven. These are craft shows so I wont be having furniture but we will have plenty of home décor and Holiday décor will be our focus. All with a farmhouse feel. Keep an eye out for updates about these events via our facebook and check here and facebook for product updates we will be having at all of our events.
Have to finish up a few products for the market this weekend and a few last minute projects for the house. Soon I will be doing a home tour of our apartment. Only a few more months till our leave is up and we get to move. Happy Sunday!!

Here is a super easy way to add a Halloween touch to your home, can be fun to let the kids help out with this as well. Here is what you need: fabric of your choice, I use a canvas matireal. printwd Halloween fabric black felt acissors paper letter stencil exacts knife sewimg machine thread pillow stuffing FIrst cut pillow out to size that you prefer, I made mine 25inches by 15inches and leave room for seam allowance. Draw out the letter on paper and just draw the outer part of the letter. I cut the middle out but realized it would be easier not to and save time. Cut the letter with a exacto knife to make sure it's clean cut. Lay letter on fabric and lightly sketch the letter on the fabric so it easy to cut, leaving the middle of the letter uncut. Now once all letter are cut place on cutting board and get ready to cut felt for the shape of the center of each letter. Cut the shadows of the letter out for your liking, I just eye balled it! Place on the printed letter so see how they fit if they are to your liking move on to sewing together. Pin the letter on your front of pillow as you wish to have the letter read. Sew edge of the letter with a zig zag stitch for a cute detail, I used dark thread so you can see the detail to add character. Once the letter have been attached flip fabric. So front and back meet to assemble pillow. I sewed sides and bottom together leaving one side open. The one side left open fold inward about half and inch for a clean seam and sew. Once that is beamed flip inside out and have the outside exposed, fill stuffing I the pillow to your liking, I like them fluffy. Once it's filled, close heamed side together and sew closed sealing the pillow and finishing it. Make sure all threads are cut and now it's time to decorate! You can do this for any image or letter and even other holidays, it's super easy and a fun craft to do so you can spook up the home for Halloween.
Trick or Treat🍁🍁🎃🎃🎃 I have always been one for a good kitchen. Specially since I have gotten older and I love being in the kitchen, cooking and baking and entertaining. I think it's the hub of your home, everyone always drifts to the kitchen wherever you are.
This kitchen speaks to me so much! It screams lived in and still stylish. Colors are crucial for a kitchen vibe, I love a grey or grey blue color. This room is a linen color and it suits it perfectly. The raw floors make the room have a rustic nature feel. It warms the room up and still gives it a farmhouse feel. I said this before I don't feel like if your doing Farmhouse you have to stick to all neutral colors, The majority can be neutral but I adore the pop of teal cups hanging and the red Dutch oven on the stove top. The raw wood dresser as a kitchen island screams amazingggg!! And the chalk board detail brings in the trend and interest. I love this room and when we get out of our apartment and into a home I am using this as inspiration for decorating my kitchen, I.have the Dutch oven that's red and a mint color stand mixer so I am already halfway there . Happy kitchening! I adore farmhouse style decorating, I love rustic and cottage and shabby chic as well as primitive. I love to combine all of these and make my own style. WHAT!!! Combined, yes! Do you feel like when you are decorating that you have to stick to one trend or style and not veer away from it? I sometimes get in those moods where I have to re do my entire house in 1 hour, realistic? No way. I also feel like because I run a business focusing on farmhouse décor that I have to have the all white and natural wood trendy farmhouse look. I do have most of it but I also like darker colors and cant help that so I make that work in my style.
You cant love cotton blossoms and ironstone but you can also like a black chippy hutch or a red chippy buffet. Don't feel like you need to be stuck inside of a box, that box will not always be there. Trends come and go, many transition into new things and many stick as a timeless look. Farmhouse has always been around and will always be but there can be many ways to use this style. Being content in your home is important to your sanity lol. Home is where you go to relax and enjoy your family. You need to make sure that its a place you like being and a key part of that is decorating for you and no one else....If you love bright pink walls and it makes you happy do it. I guess this is going against all design rules but sometimes to make yourself happy you have to break the rules just break them in a stylish way. If you going bold and busy do that all the way, if your going simply and minimal and go all out. All week I have been in a blah funk and I was trying to get out of it, yesterday I hit my wall and pushed it down. I finally go out of it. I just had to take a break from work and work on my own home. So I made some new pillows I am painting my furniture and I am going to re paint my living room wall...shh don't tell my husband! My overall opinion on this topic is decorate for you and if you love trend then do that if you love all of it then find a way to make all of it work in a tasteful way and that it reads you. Your home is your home and no one can change that. Happy Decorating. |
